This musical odyssey moves around from one area of interest to another. Frankie Gavin, one of Ireland's finest musicians, plays tunes both happy and sad, associated with different counties and with famous musicians such as Joe Cooley (Gort) , Kieran Collins (Dublin), and others.
The theme is developed and rooted by some of the poetry of noted Irish poet, Desmond Egan who glances at landscapes, traditional styles and musicians in selections from his own poetry over many years. Jigs and reels are followed by slow, plaintive airs, elegies by lively and humorous poems. Gavin and Egan make for delightful company in new style of Concert. After two earlier Concerts, the audience gave a standing ovation. If you like your music soulful and your poetry thought-provoking, don't miss this special event.
The result is a uniquely lively evocation of a tradition and of the country which inspired it.
